In Ruta 5 a journey unravels along the Pan-American Highway in South America. Lotta, a tough cookie back home, feels out of her depth traveling alone through Chile. She hooks up with a harmless-looking backpacker with more than sight-seeing on his agenda. Trucker Enrique hauls freight along Ruta 5 while he keeps his dead wife alive in his mind. When he crashes his rig into Lotta’s SUV, the collision throws both off their errant tracks to face love, life and loss.
