A Dissertation on Grimmelshausen’s Simplicissimus
The first book I published was my dissertation: “Das Fortwirken des Simplicissimus von Grimmelshausen in der deutschen Literatur”. It translates to “The Influence of Simplicissimus by Grimmelshausen on German Literature.” Simplicissimus was and is one of my favorite novels, but if you work on it for years, that drains you passion a little.

SUSE LInux was the next topic I was writing about for years, but the beast kept changing its face continuously so there was always enough to do.When I started at SUSE, there was only one 300 page manual and one person working full-time on it. Over the years the total volume grew to more than one thousand pages written and maintained by seven writers. We created manuals in all kinds of flavors for different products and architectures.
